The Role

Reporting to the Senior Vice-President of Sales, the Director of Category Management will develop critical insights and strategic selling solutions for the Sales and Marketing teams that drive revenue and profit growth. This individual addresses complex business opportunities by leveraging multiple data sources, consumer insights, industry knowledge, sales experience, and a thorough understanding of the CPG environment. This person must have a thorough understanding of interpreting and leveraging syndicated industry data (SPINS, IRI, etc.).

By day, the Director of Category Management will: 

  1. Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain on annual category plans. Provide recommended strategies and tactics to exceed both Luvo and Retailer financial targets
    1. Track category trends to provide insights and recommendations.
    2. Develop standardized reporting templates for internal stakeholders, Brokers, and Retail Customers
    3. Develop new tools as necessary to leverage information (from multiple sources) that drive revenue and profit growth.
    4. Identify opportunities both at the total category level and retailer level that equate to market share gains.
    5. Function as the key contact that provides forecast information to Finance and Supply Chain.
  1. Work with the SVP Sales and the Sales Team to actively manage the four P’s:
    1. Price – recommend the correct price for Luvo products. This needs to be maximized for EDLP accounts and HiLo accounts.
    2. Promotion – recommend the optimum promotion strategy in each key market. Provide a roadmap of what vehicles maximize incremental volume while also improving base volume
    3. Placement – recommend the optimum shelf placement. Develop different plan-o-grams that should be used across the country for each potential shelf configuration.
    4. Product – develop the correct product assortment and sku prioritization guidelines. Also determine how and when to rationalize sku’s.
  1. Drive Category Growth
    1. Develop recommendations that not only drive Luvo growth but can be proven to drive Category growth.
    2. Provide strategic direction with key retailers to drive overall growth. This will include participation in key retailer Category Reviews and presentations.
  1. Leadership
    1. This Director will provide direction and coaching the Category Business Analyst and any other members of the team.
    2. As a Director, this person is a very important part of the overall leadership team and will be expected to lead cross functional projects as necessary.
    3. Actively engage cross functionally to provide expertise to internal staff. Key potential interactions will be with Marketing, R&D, Supply Chain and Finance

  • Share our passion for transforming our world through food with your “everything is possible” attitude
  • Proudly display your undergraduate degree in Business or related field
  • Have at least 4-6 years of selling experience
  • Have a minimum of 4 years syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI, SPINS) analysis experience
  • Are knowledgeable and have experience in the CPG industry (experience in the frozen/pre-packaged goods industry an added asset)
  • Possess strong financial acumen required
  • Ability to take initiative, identify opportunities and implement solutions with little direction
  • Have excellent project management skills and a proven ability to negotiate
  • Have a proven track record of success in meeting goals and supporting sales partners in meeting and exceeding sales plans
  • Are technology savvy (expert with Microsoft Office programs) and comfortable using inventory management systems/POS portals to gather information and insight
  • Are a creative problem solver with expert-level analytical skills
  • Are a natural communicator who can creatively synthesize volumes of data into key trends, observations, and actions either written or verbal, and craft and present meaningful presentations from that information
  • Possess a strong attention to detail, operate effortlessly in a highly dynamic environment and leverage maturity and business acumen to make decisions
  • Understand importance of determining task precedence and priority and can adjust workflow as needed to respond to changes and unexpected requests as they arise
  • Are a-ok packing your bags for occasional travel to somewhere great
