Orange Creamsicle Syrup
Try this take on an old favorite next time you’re looking to add a little sweetness to your dessert or homemade soda.
Ingredients
- 3 cups freshly squeezed orange juice (not from a carton!)
- ½ cup coconut milk (from a can)
- ½ vanilla bean, split in half
- Zest of 1 orange
- 3 tablespoons raw cane sugar or 2 tablespoons agave syrup
Instructions
- Place all ingredients in a pot over medium heat (scrape the vanilla seeds from the bean and add them to the mix) and bring to a simmer.
- Reduce heat and simmer for another 10 minutes until mix thickens. Scrape the bottom and sides to avoid burning
- Remove from heat and cool down. Once cold place in a jar with a tight lid and refrigerate. It’ll keep in the fridge for about 5 days.
Notes
TIP: if you want to keep it longer, freeze syrup in ice cube trays and use the cubes to flavour pop.
To flavour pop: add ¼ cup of fruit syrup for every 2 cups of club soda (or water if you prefer it still). Feel free to adjust the ratio to your liking.
