Best of the Fresh Blog 2014

As our first year in business comes to a close, we took some time at Luvo HQ to reflect on all we have accomplished. The conclusion? This year has been nothing short of amazing! New and blossoming partnerships with Delta Airlines, Yankees legend Derek Jeter and world renowned doctor Mark Hyman all helped propel our mission of getting delicious, healthy food into the hands (and stomachs) of as many Americans as possible. As you know, another part of our philosophy here at Luvo is to be a source of information and inspiration for you. Here are our picks of some of the most celebrated and shared Luvo blog posts of 2014:

Food 101

One of our favorite things to do this year was debunk myths and misconceptions around some of the most popular foods and food trends. We learned about the secret life of one of nature’s most beloved edible cloves and why the Greek version of this breakfast staple lives up to its hype. We also provided you with a guide to help expand your horizons beyond the kale tornado that took every 2014 menu by storm.

Luvo’s Vice President of Nutrition, Samantha Cassetty, M.S., R.D., was hard at work digging into the truth behind one of the biggest foodie topics of the last few years, as well as sharing tips on how to minimize your sugar intake and the importance of reading nutritional labels .

Our foodie news wasn’t all serious. We explored our favorite crazy food facts, a selection of beautiful food photographs from around the web, and tips on how to shop like a pro at your local farmer’s market.

Recipes

Healthier versions of your favorite snacks and sides were a weekly staple this year. Our team was inspired by thoughts of creating comfort foods that keep you moving instead of unbuckling. We spent some time updating classic dishes like guacamole and potluck salads, and even helped you spice up the water and tea you sip throughout the day.

We also provided suggestions on how to keep leftovers lasting longer and how to cook with one of our most beloved adult beverages. And let’s not forget our quick and easy intro to the wonderful world of smoothies.

Conversations

When we weren’t busy in the kitchen, we were taking part in some great conversations. Local food truck owners gave us a behind-the-scenes look at what really goes into operating a restaurant on wheels. California food artist Julie Lee shared the secrets behind her trademark collages, and our longest serving ambassador and New York Times bestseller Dr. Mark Hyman took time to answer some of your most common food questions.

Thank you for continuing to share your best practices, ideas and favorite recipes with us! Expect to see more of your suggestions and ideas come to life in 2015. Feel free to share them here in the comment section or tweet us @Luvoinc.
