8 Awesome Foods-on-a-Stick

It was National Food-on-a-Stick Day this past weekend, which basically means we all have an excuse to find every and any type of foods-on-a-stick and gorge ourselves on them. Fortunately for us, there’s actually quite a few creative, delicious and healthy recipes out there for us to feast our eyes on (and soon our tummies!) Here’s eight of my faves:

  1. Protein

Skewers are probably one of the first things you think of when someone says “Food-on-a-Stick,” and these reliable, easy to make concoctions are easy to get creative with. Check out these salmon and chicken recipes to make an entree everyone is sure to love and take fifths of.

  1. Veggies

For those of you who want a little veggie love, I’ve got you covered with these veggie kebabs smothered with delicious avocado sauce! How could anything with avocado go wrong? Paleo Newbie certainly knows how to make your taste buds tingle with this light, flavourful, and vegan-friendly dish.

  1. Cheese

Mint, mozzarella, plus a hint of blackberry jam will have you asking for more. This is the perfect appetizer to have before a meal, and the “tang” from the tangerine will wake your taste buds up so fast, you might not be able to control ‘em!

  1. Breakfast

You’ll never get bored of these Breakfast Buckwheat Blini Kebabs. Mix them up every time you cook ‘em up with differents fruits, drizzle some lemon on them, slather them in maple syrup, plain yogurt, or even fresh jam. They’re unique and will spice up your mornings – plus, all your gluten-free friends will be able to join in on the fun!

  1. Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

These smoky, crispy grilled cheese squares paired with that fresh burst of cherry tomato flavor are the perfect combination. Plus – comfort food on a stick? Yes please.

  1. Grapes

You know what they say – “when there’s fruit…there’s health”. How Sweet It Is whipped up this “Embarrassingly Easy” recipe for Chocolate Covered Grape Skewers, and you will love how embarrassingly easy it really is. What’s even greater, is you can substitute grapes for anything you want – the chocolate-covered possibilities are endless!

  1. Popsicles

If you’re on the hunt for something cool and refreshing (and lactose free!), My Darling Lemon Thyme has exactly what you’re looking for. Keep these tropical Mango, Coconut and Pineapple concoctions in your freezer all year round to pop out whenever you might need to prevent a “meltdown”!

  1. Cake

These Vegan Gingerbread Cake Pops are the ideal bite-sized treat for when you can’t stomach an entire slice of cake – although who am I kidding, they’re so bite-sized, you’ll be craving for more the instant you finish off the first “pop”!
