Spicy Mezcal Old Fashioned
Mezcal is a distilled Mexican liqueur made from maguey (a type of agave). It packs a smooth smoky flavour and has as much punch as it’s cousin the famous tequila. We suggest you try mezcal by itself before venturing into getting a whole bottle as it is quite unique! This recipe is the perfect sipper to chill on a hot afternoon or eat along side our Chicken Chile Verde while watching your favourite soap opera!
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ oz Fidencio or Siete Misterios mezcal
- ½ oz tequila reposado
- ½ teaspoon agave syrup
- 1 dash angostura bitters
- 1 slice (lengthwise) jalapeno pepper
- Large orange twist to garnish
Method:
- In a glass full of ice stir all ingredients for about 1 minute.
- Strain in a glass with a large ice cube
- Squeeze the orange twist over the cocktail to release the oils into the drink. If you want it extra spicy, leave the jalapeno slice in the drink, if not , remove before serving. Makes 1
