Valentine’s Day Hacks for Guys

If you landed on this page because you realized what day it is tomorrow, don’t panic. I’m sure you’re not the only guy who googled last minute Valentine’s ideas today. With only a few hours to spare before the most romantic day of the year, you may feel anxious, heart beating irregularly, sweat beads building on your brow. Without sounding like an overused Taylor Swift lyric, shake it off fellas. You got this. And we can help.

When we think of Valentine’s Day, we think of long-stemmed red roses wrapped beautifully in a box with a giant bow. We think of candlelit dinners, designer chocolates, and handwritten poems among other chivalrous expressions of devotion. Then we take a moment to get real with ourselves and realize not everyone has time for such sappy sentimental acts of love.

If you’ve missed out on making a reservation at her favorite eatery, forgot to order flowers and don’t have a flair for poetry, don’t fret. How about an intimate evening for two with all the trimmings?

Set the mood

Before your guest of honor arrives, you’ll want to create some ambience. Candles and a well-appointed table setting is one thing, but if you want to come off really slick, make a list of her favorite songs; tunes that are meaningful to you both and conger up romantic memories. Then create a playlist on Spotify and let it loop.

Propose a toast

Next, you’ll need to prepare and serve a loving libation. Think cocktail mixes with red or pink hues like the True Love Valentine Martini by celebrations.com. Garnish with strawberries sliced in half lengthwise, which when floating in the drink, look like perfectly shaped hearts. She’ll think it’s so sweet she can’t even.

Melt her heart

If the thought of preparing a meal for your sweetie has you sweating bullets, here’s a way to cut corners – literally. While you’re out shopping for ingredients and a 2010 Chablis (it was a good year), pick up a heart shaped cookie cutter. Then when you’re ready to prepare your meal, start by baking a few savoury Luvo Flatbreads. As soon as you pull them out of the oven, press the cookie cutter in while the dough is warm, creating a most romantic main course in the shape of a heart. Drizzle some of Luvo’s balsamic glaze overtop and pair with a simple grain-based salad.

Finally, don’t forget to give your Valentine a card. In my opinion, this is the most important part (I’m a sucker for tradition). Whether it’s handmade or store bought, if the message is heartfelt, she’ll appreciate it because all girls love a good luv note.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
